SMOKE & BEERS: Session 1 – Spoonwood Brewing & RoMa Craft Cigars

Smoke & Beers is a brand new video series on Breaking Brews featuring craft beer paired with various cigars. Each month, Dirty Dog Cigar Shoppe Co-Owner Shawn Carroll and Pittsburgh Craft Beer Network’s Jason Cercone will visit a brewery to enjoy a beer, a cigar, and discuss via video why they work so well together. You can visit Dirty Dog in McKeesport and explore their walk-in humidor featuring hundreds of fine cigars to pair with your favorite beers and whiskeys, or to enjoy on their own.

Session 1 – Kicking Things Off at Spoonwood Brewing

Spoonwood & RoMa CraftIt’s time to enjoy two of the finer things in life: craft beer and cigars!

If you listened to the Over a Couple of Beers podcast earlier this summer with Shawn Carroll of Dirty Dog Cigar Shoppe, you learned how well different cigars pair with various beer styles. If you missed that session, you can snag a listen here. Also on that session, we discussed a new video series that will feature a new beer and cigar pairing each month.

Today, that video series debuts.

To get Smoke & Beers up and running, Shawn and I visited Spoonwood Brewing and paired All Downhill Vanilla Cream Ale with a cigar offering from RoMa Craft. Each month going forward, we plan to feature different beers from across the city and beyond and enjoy them with a cigar whose flavor profiles serves up the perfect complement.
