East End Brewing Hosts Crafts and Drafts Fresh Market
by Angelica Ross
East End Brewing Company celebrated the release of their Moonstomp Berliner Weisse the best way possible: by doing some Pittsburgh weather voodoo and calling in a beautiful, sunny day for their Crafts and Drafts Fresh Market this past Saturday.
No, Crafts and Drafts isn’t an event where you make a frame out of macaroni and hops while you drink (although please get on that, guys). It’s a fresh market featuring local artists making their wares from eco-friendly or recycled items, nurseries, food trucks, and music. Oh, and free samples of Moonstomp, a collaboration with Pizza Boy Brewing Co.
Vendors you don’t want to miss next time they throw a party like this included: charmed by nature, Erra Creations, Vehement Romantic, Lovett Sundries, Whimsical Wonders, Tiltcycle, Papyrusaurus, and Hip Modern Soap. Plants came from Hazelwood Urban Farms, greenSinner, and Greenfield Gardens. And of course, food from La Palapa Mexican Gourmet Kitchen, Pgh Po’boy, and Leona’s Ice Cream Sandwiches as well as in-house Commonplace Coffee Co. Grow Pittsburgh was also in attendance with plantable crafts for the kids.
Even though it was ridiculously hot, the beer cooled you down enough to enjoy music by The Employees of Funk out on the patio. An ice cream sandwich helped with that, too. I have to admit, I didn’t try the Moonstomp this time around, but I remember it being delicious, so another trip out to East End is in order.
