Get Your Hands on the First Spoonwood Brewing Cans
Spoonwood Brewing in Bethel Park has been going strong for a little over two years with wide variety of unique beer offerings. They’ve had several barrel-aged releases with plenty more on the horizon for the rest of 2017 and beyond, including the release of Beard of Bees Honey Imperial Porter aged in a Wild Turkey barrel, a beer brewed in collaboration with Apis Mead & Winery that will be tapped during Pittsburgh Craft Beer Week on Saturday, April 22nd at 11:30am.
Up to this point, the only packaging Spoonwood has done has been 22oz. bombers. And growlers, of course. But at 4:00pm, that all changes.
Spoonwood Brewing is now officially part of the canned beer club (if that’s a thing. If it’s not, someone should get to work on it…)! Cold Drip City Coffee Blonde Ale, easily one of Brewers Steve Ilnicki and James Evans’ most popular creations, is now available to-go in convenient 6-packs. Or, if you’re like me, you’ll get yourself a whole case and stock the fridge up for the better part of a weekend or two. 6-packs of Cold Drip City will be selling for $12/each + tax.
Cold Drip City is deceptive in appearance as the rich, roasted coffee flavor is not something you’d expect from a Blonde Ale. However, the coffee is strong with this one. The flavor is achieved by infusing cold-brewed coffee from Allegheny Coffee & Tea Exchange during the carbonation process, allowing Cold Drip City to maintain its ale appearance and characteristics.
Spoonwood joined forces with Buckeye Mobile Canning Systems out of Elyria, Ohio to put together their first run of canned beer. They plan to explore canning other beers in the future.
Cold Drip City cans go on sale at Spoonwood at 4:00pm today.
