Maggie’s Farm Rum and Wigle Whiskey Capture Multiple Awards

Maggie's Farm Rum and Wigle WhiskeyOne of the great things about Pittsburgh is the fact that it’s overflowing with incredible talent in many different arenas. We talk about beer a lot on this blog as the local scene has undergone overwhelming evolution in that respect. But Pittsburgh is also home to award-winning rum and whiskey brought to us by Maggie’s Farm and Wigle, respectively. Earlier this week, they both added accolades to their trophy cases and continued to show the country how big of a libations destination Pittsburgh has become.

The 2016 American Craft Spirits Awards, hosted by the American Craft Spirits Association, took place Wednesday night and Maggie’s and Wigle made a tremendous impact on the night’s festivities. Maggie’s Farm captured the Best In Show Award with their Single Barrel Rum, beating out over 400 different rums, whiskeys, brandys, and vodkas. In addition, the Single Barrel Rum was also awarded Best In Category Aged Rum and Best in Class Rum. Their white and spiced rums received bronze medals while their unaged and bourbon oak Queen’s Share took home silver medals and Rye Aged Queen’s Share won gold.

Wigle came home with some hardware, too…12 medals to be exact. 2016 marks the second straight year Wigle earned the distinction of the most awarded craft distillery in the United States at this prestigious event. They won Best In Category Whiskey with their Organic Straight Wheat Whiskey, as well as Best in Class Gin with their Barrel Aged Ginever, among other medals.

Without question, Pittsburgh is making some serious noise on the beer and spirits fronts. On behalf of the entire libations-loving community here in town, a HUGE congratulations and high-five goes out to everyone at Maggie’s Farm and Wigle for putting our city on the map and bringing top-notch spirits to the market. See you guys back on stage in 2017!
