Levity Beer Dinner, Tap Takeover Announced; Caliente Plans Week of Festivities; Spoonwood Preps for 3rd Annual Septoberfest

It’s a busy day here at the Short Pour news desk and our characters are limited, so let’s get right to it!

Breakneck Tavern has become well-known for their epic Beer and Food Pairing Dinners and, after a short hiatus for the summer, are starting up the tradition once again this month. This time around, they are teaming up with Indiana’s Levity Brewing Company to deliver five incredible courses prepared by Executive Chef Martin Lamarche and his culinary crew expertly paired with artisanal brews from Levity’s portfolio. The dinner will take place at Breakneck Tavern on Tuesday, September 19th starting at 6:30pm.

The menu will be announced soon, but the beers lined up for the dinner are as follows:

  • Hoodlebug Brown Ale
  • It’s Hoplicated IPA
  • Tenured Double IPA
  • Straight Red Amber Ale
  • Saison Kick Ginger Saison
  • Headlamp Russian Imperial Stout

One beer will serve as a reception beer prior to the dinner getting underway.

Tickets are $65/person + tax and gratuity and, as someone who’s been to several of these dinners, is absolutely worth the price of admission and then some. Call 724-625-9150 to make your reservations today before seats fill up.

And speaking of Levity Brewing, they’ll also be co-hosting a Tap Takeover and special bottle release with Hal’s Bottle Shop on Thursday, September 21st from 7-9pm. Beers on tap have yet to be determined, but Hal’s managed to get their hands on the only case of Knock and Howl Wild Brown Ale to leave Levity’s Indiana brewery and they’ll be on sale for you to grab! The Levity team will also be on hand with samples and swag.

Caliente Turns Five

It seems like only yesterday that I wandered into Caliente Pizza & Draft House for the first time and sunk my teeth into a Spinach & Feta Gourmet Pizza – a hot, circular piece of heaven I still consider to be one of my favorite pizzas ever. Many unique drafts and many pies later, I’m watching my little baby grow up and turn a whopping five years old!

Caliente’s week-long 5-Year Anniversary runs September 18th-24th and is chock-full of happenings and special tappings.

The Caliente brand kicks off a celebration of a half-decade of beer and pizza excellence with a tapping of Prairie Birthday Bomb at all three of their locations in Bloomfield, Hampton Township, and Mount Lebanon. Check out the image below for a full list of what’s happening.

Congratulations to Nick and Angie Bogacz, owners of Caliente, and their entire crew on reaching this great milestone.
