Barleywine For Miles at Hell With The Lid Off 2017
Ladies and gentlemen, it’s that time of year. You may not realize it because it’s just so damn warm out there. But whether or not you need to bundle up, there’s one thing coming your way that’s sure to warm your blood: BARLEYWINE!
That’s right, it’s almost time for Hell With The Lid Off at Kelly’s Bar and Lounge. This annual event is the quintessential authority when it comes to barleywine, a beer style that ages like no other and delivers a potent, malty punch with every sip you take. HWTLO is the last barleywine festival of its kind in the United States and one that any craft beer enthusiast needs to experience at least once in their lifetime.
Kelly’s cellar is currently overflowing with barleywines, some aging for over a decade, and they’ll be on display for you to enjoy throughout this two-session event.
This year’s Hell With The Lid Off unfolds Saturday, March 4th with afternoon and evening sessions. The bar will be closed for regular business in order to host the mother of all barleywine extravaganzas. The event will be chock-full of an enormous variety of barleywines both past and present from local, regional, and national breweries. They’ll be delivered to you on tap, flights, and vertical flights that allow you to experience the same beer from a succession of years. In addition, Kelly’s will have a nice spread of food to ensure your belly stays full as you sample high-test beers during one of the two 3-hour sessions.
Click here to grab your tickets to Hell With The Lid Off. You can choose to attend the afternoon session from 1:00pm – 4:00pm or the evening session from 5:00pm – 8:00pm. If you want to be my hero and push through two sessions, snag tickets to both!
As a special bonus, I’ll be in the house recording a special session of the Over a Couple of Beers Podcast (including a Facebook Live feed on PCBN TV). Be sure to stop by and chat about beers with us!
