Picklesburgh 2016 Kicks Off Friday at Noon
Taking a brief break from beer for a moment, today is the return of Picklesburgh, a celebration of everything…yep, circle gets the square…pickles in the Steel City! This event takes place on Friday, July 15th and Saturday, July 16th from 12:00pm – 11:00pm on the Rachel Carson Bridge, aka the 9th St. Bridge, in Downtown Pittsburgh.
Picklesburgh is set against the backdrop of our beautiful city and a huge flying Heinz pickle balloon will grace the sky. This brined inflated beauty was custom built by a team that’s also designed balloons for Disney and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
As a guest, expect to broaden your pickled horizons as these two days focus on international dishes, prepared foods, and artisan cocktails that feature pickled ingredients showcased by local restaurants. You’ll also be privy to how-to demos, author talks, and merchandise including pickled goods, books, and DIY products.
The Pittsburgh Pickle Company, proudly owned and operated by the brothers behind The BeerHive in the Strip District, will be on hand today and tomorrow along side several other vendors. They’ll be selling jars of their pickles, offering cups of pickles for you to eat as you explore the festival grounds, and also serving up something very unique: Bacon Tacos adorned with various pickled items.
You guys had me at bacon. And tacos. And pickles.
