Caliente Joins the Battle Against Child Hunger

Caliente Pizza & Draft House is joining over 70 pizzerias across the United States to fight child hunger throughout the month of May. All participating pizzerias will be featuring a specialty pizza and $1 of every pizza sold through May 31st will be donated to No Kid Hungry. Caliente, as is their M.O., has taken it up a notch and will donate $2 from each pizza sold during the campaign, aptly named the “Slice Out Special.” It is produced by Slice Out Hunger, a NYC-based nonprofit organization which supports hunger relief and prevention organizations through the American pizza community.

Caliente’s featured Slice Out Special is a delectable pie containing Slow-Roasted Jerk Chicken, Smoked Bacon, Mixed Mushroom Ragu, Brown Sugar, Pineapple, Aged Cheddar, Mozzarella, Provolone, and Honey Garlic Sauce. This pizza is available at all three Caliente locations in Bloomfield, Mt. Lebanon, and Hampton Township.

Slice Out Hunger is run by pizza lovers and industry professionals with a mission to support hunger relief initiatives by fundraising throughout the country. Since its inception in 2009, Slice Out Hunger has raised more than $160,000 for hunger relief. The current campaign is their first on a nationwide level.

One in 6 kids will face hunger this calendar year. Using proven, practical solutions, No Kid Hungry is ending childhood hunger by ensuring that kids start the day with a nutritious breakfast and families learn the skills they need to shop and cook on a budget. The No Kid Hungry campaign originates from Share Our Strength, a national anti-hunger organization.
