One-off Collaboration Beers Return for PCBW 2016

pcbwOne of the best traditions of Pittsburgh Craft Beer Week is the collaboration beers created by our local brewers. Several breweries, some fully operational, others in the planning and construction phases, joined forces to create unique one-off beers that truly showcase the ingenuity and creativity that lives throughout our craft beer scene. Camaraderie is strong in our city and these beers are a testament of what happens when our brewers work together.

You can find these beers at various locations throughout Pittsburgh Craft Beer Week and beyond.

Prospero White Stout | 7.5% ABV
Brewed in collaboration by Rock Bottom Brewery, Hitchhiker Brewing, CoStar Brewing, and Eleventh Hour Brewing

Stouts…aren’t they always dark? NOPE! These four breweries got creative and have brought to life a beer with the characteristics of a stout, but with a much lighter complexion.

Greenfield Bridge is Falling Down | 6% ABV
Brewed in collaboration by Helltown Brewing, Spoonwood Brewing, Helicon Brewing, and Dancing Gnome Brewing

A very lush, soft, hop-forward Vermont-style IPA. This beer, commemorating the recent falling of the long-standing Greenfield Bridge over I-376 East, takes on a hazy appearance from both the hops and yeast used in the brewing process.

Plum Puckered | 6% ABV
Brewed in collaboration by Rivertowne Brewing, Hop Farm Brewing, Reclamation Brewing, and Bloom Brew

This collaboration is a fruit saison that utilizes plum to give it sour characteristics.

Ale Satan | 4.5% ABV
Brewed in collaboration by Full Pint Brewing and Lavery Brewing

Scorpion chili pepper takes center stage to make this cherry red Berliner Weisse pop out of the pint glass!

You’re Killin’ Me, S’mores | 9% ABV
Brewed in collaboration by Church Brew Works, ShuBrew, All Saints Brewing, and Mindful Brewing

This s’mores-inspired porter will have you clamoring for the nearest campfire! Notes of chocolate and graham are prevalent and make this one-of-a-kind beer really stand out.

Passionate Embrace (Uncomfortable Silence) | 6% ABV
Brewed in collaboration by Grist House Craft Brewery, East End Brewing, and Roundabout Brewery

This trio of breweries are no strangers to producing solid beers on a consistent basis, so pooling their efforts in the name of a collab can only lead to great things. The results of their collective work is a hoppy saison loaded up with passion fruit.

Mash Paddle vs. Hipster | 6.5% ABV
Brewed in collaboration by Penn Brewery, Allegheny City Brewing, Spring Hill Brewing, and War Streets Brewing

The North Side is coming alive with beer as three new breweries are opening up in the neighborhood where Penn has called home since the early 90’s. In a complete show of solidarity, these four have come together to brew a sleek India Red Lager (IRL) that’s certain to hit home with fans of hoppy and red beers alike.

Citra Mac | 5-7% ABV
Brewed in collaboration by East End Brewing and Four Seasons Brewing

This Belgian Ale was brewed with citra hops and local sumac, giving this collaboration a tartness commonly found in rhubarb and a beautiful bright red color.

Late Night Mild | 3.5% ABV
Brewed in collaboration by East End Brewing and Three Rivers Association of Serious Homebrewers (T.R.A.S.H.) session beer winner Daren Szakelyhidi

Pittsburgh’s homebrewing scene is on fire and many talented brewers are creating some seriously kick ass beer. One of those beers will be available at East End as they’ve partnered with T.R.A.S.H.’s session beer winner Daren Szakelyhidi to bring you a dark mild ale that comes in at the lowest ABV of any collaboration beer this year, 3.5%.

Respect Your Elderberries | 5.3% ABV
Brewed in collaboration by Hop Farm Brewing and Caliente Pizza & Draft House

Caliente has partnered with several local breweries to create a series of one-off collaborations and that tradition continues with Respect Your Elderberries, a fruity, tasty elderberry hibiscus saison. It will be available at the Hop Farm taproom throughout PCBW and also both Caliente locations in Bloomfield and Hampton Township.

5 Point Black IPA | 6.2% ABV
Brewed in collaboration by Rock Bottom Brewery and Carson Street Deli and Craft Beer Bar

Rock Bottom and Carson Street Deli have joined forces to not only bring us a collaboration beer, but a collaboration sandwich as well! The beer is a black IPA with a roasty, well-balanced bitterness and smooth finish. The sandwich, known as Prehistoric Goat, consists of roast beef, horseradish, crispy onions and aged goat cheese from Goat Rodeo Farm in northern Allegheny County, served on pumpernickel bread.

Red-Hop Hard Root Beer
Brewed in collaboration with Hop Farm Brewing and Natrona Bottling

A slight alternative to all the beer you’ll be consuming throughout PCBW, this malt-based hard root beer will be available at Hop Farm’s taproom in Lawrenceville throughout Pittsburgh Craft Beer Week and beyond.
