It’s the 2016 Over a Couple of Beers kickoff show! And what better way to get the ball rolling than to sit down with two breweries just a few short months away from opening their doors and bringing more good beer to the market?
In this episode, I sat down with an all-star cast of characters as all three gentlemen behind Levity Brewing Company and all four gentlemen from Noble Stein Brewing Company took some time out of their days to sit down and talk about beer, among other things. Both breweries will call Indiana, PA home and are on the cusp of opening up their taprooms to the public for the very first time.
2016 is going to be a monumental year for Pittsburgh’s craft beer scene…perhaps the biggest yet. Over a dozen new breweries in planning, not to mention increased growth and reach of the existing ones. Beer festivals, new breweries from around the country breaking into the market, new craft beer destinations popping up all over town…it’s truly a great time to be a citizen of the Steel City.
If you look at smaller segments that make up the entire landscape, you’ll notice breweries opening up that practically change the face of the neighborhood. Lawrenceville has Roundabout, Hop Farm, and Full Pint’s Wild Side Taproom within blocks of one another, with Eleventh Hour planning to open in the neighborhood soon. Draai Laag and Grist House are within walking distance of each other in Millvale. As are Reclamation and the soon-to-open Butler Brew Works in Butler, PA. Homestead has Rock Bottom and Voodoo, with The Brew Gentlemen just a few miles away.
And, in Indiana, Noble Stein and Levity are blazing the trail and becoming the town’s first craft breweries…opening up taprooms a mere stone’s throw away from each other. But, despite the close proximity of their two breweries, there’s nothing but camaraderie between these two groups and, as you’ll learn, the word “competition” has never been a thought. In fact, collaboration ideas were already being discussed.
