One of the major elements that often gets overlooked regarding the growth of craft beer is its ability to bring people together for a worthy cause. In years past, events and festivals stocked up on as much domestic beer as possible just to ensure there was enough present to keep the thirsty crowd satisfied. Now, event organizers meticulously plan the involvement of craft breweries to ensure their guests don’t leave with a heavy buzz, but rather a memorable experience after sampling quality products.
Craft beer and fundraisers have become synonymous with one another. It’s a great feeling to enjoy a tasty, handcrafted beer knowing proceeds from your ticket benefit those less fortunate.
During Pittsburgh Craft Beer Week 2017, HEARTH is hosting a special beer tasting event to support homeless families who are survivors of domestic violence. Hops For HEARTH will take place on Saturday, April 22nd at the Bigelow Conference & Reception Center with a VIP Session starting at 6:00pm. General Admission begins at 7:00pm and goes until 9:00pm. The event will feature samplings from several craft breweries across the Pittsburgh region, appetizers from local Pittsburgh restaurants, and a silent auction complete with an array of prestigious items.
Reserve your tickets to Hops For HEARTH now and be part of this tremendous cause!
HEARTH stands for Homelessness Ends with Advocacy, Resources, Training, and Housing and was created by a group of concerned North Hills leaders who recognized an unmet need in the community who then sought to remedy that need. In 1989, they convened a meeting at LaRoche College to discuss the rise in homelessness among female-headed households. More specifically the group focused on the lack of affordable housing for these families. Participants spoke of husbands deserting wives, single mothers losing their jobs or leaving work to deal with family issues, bankruptcy and defaulted mortgages. Nonprofit leaders spoke of the lack of resources to answer the increasing demand from homeless families.
