Hal’s Bottle Shop on Babcock Blvd. in the North Hills has one of the best bottle selections you’ll find north of Pittsburgh. On top of that, Danny Castriota, manager of Hal’s Bottle Shop is on top of his game in regards to education and pointing customers towards beers he knows they’ll like based on their taste profiles.
This education is expanded with the samplings Hal’s hold on Thursday nights throughout the month. Last night, Hal’s Bottle Shop had Fat Head’s in the house, with Geoff Stober from Fat Heads and Patrick Vallely from Wilson-McGinley Distributors serving up samples to a pretty steady crowd from 7-9pm. If you are not accustomed to attending events such as this, I highly encourage you to stick close to PCBN for sample listings and make your way to one in the near future. It’s an excellent opportunity to taste new beers and try something you may have missed.
Last night’s sampling featured Fat Head’s flagship IPA, Head Hunter, as well as the rare wet-hopped Hop Stalker (my personal favorite of the evening). In addition, they had Bumble Berry, and holiday favorites Holly Jolly and Pimp My Sleigh (the one Santa kicks back with after a long night of delivering toys across the world).
Hal’s Bottle Shop routinely has samplings, and you’ll learn all about them on their Facebook page, as well as right here on PCBN. Hope to see you guys at the next one!
