Summertime in the Steel City is always jam-packed with places to go, things to do, and people to see. Last year, Pittsburgh’s tourism scene was scorching as many outside organizations chose our fair city as their stomping grounds for annual activities. The Three Rivers Arts Festival will attract citizens young and old to Point State Park for food, music, and a celebration of art and culture from Pittsburghers and beyond. Food festivals, music festivals, Pirates baseball, and hopefully a ticker-tape parade through downtown with the Stanley Cup hoisted high by our beloved Penguins make Pittsburgh a premier destination for warm-weather excitement.
On the beer front, we are just a week removed from the conclusion of Pittsburgh Craft Beer Week 2016 and our scene could not be more strong and vibrant. The 10-day region-wide celebration showcased how much Pittsburgh has evolved and just how lucky we are as craft beer enthusiasts to live in such abundant and booming times. Pittsburgh has transcended just one 10-day festival and has become an area that truly celebrates craft beer all year and the number of craft beer events lined up this summer are resounding proof of that very fact.
One of the marquee events on the schedule is the 3rd Annual Brew ‘N Chew, brought to you by GoodTaste! Pittsburgh. This two-session beer spectacular creates the ultimate marriage of beer and food as nearly 80 different craft breweries and dozens of local restaurants and eateries will join forces at the Monroeville Convention Center on Saturday, June 18th. Brew ‘N Chew was formerly held in January, but the additions to the 2016 lineup were fitting of an event that needed to be paired with the warm grips of summer. To get you primed for this event, Brew ‘N Chew is our May Craft Beer Spotlight on Breaking Brews.
Brew ‘N Chew and GoodTaste! Pittsburgh are proud to partner with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation to bring you this exclusive event. JDRF is the leading diabetes foundation funding T1D research. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until they achieve a world without T1D. JDRF collaborates with a wide spectrum of partners and is the only organization with the scientific resources, regulatory influence, and a working plan to better treat, prevent, and eventually cure T1D. They are currently sponsoring $530 million in scientific research in 17 countries. In 2012 alone, JDRF provided more than $110 million to T1D research.
The great folks from JDRF will be manning the beer float bar at Brew ‘N Chew and serving up great combinations of hard sodas and ice cream. Make sure you stop by, grab a float, and learn more about this extraordinary cause.
GoodTaste! Pittsburgh has a 12-year history of producing high-end quality food and lifestyle shows in the Pittsburgh market. As I mentioned before, this will be the third year for this regional event that features local and regional craft beers, great food and lifestyle entertainment.
“This show is about more than just beer sampling,” Dee Weinberg, President of GoodTaste! Pittsburgh and creator of Brew ‘N Chew, stated. “GoodTaste’s primary focus is educating event attendees on distinguishing the nuances between beers and matching the right foods along side them…with a good measure of fun mixed in!”
Big beer festivals and tastings have become all the rage as craft beer enthusiasts pine for venues where they can experience several different offerings from multiple breweries under one roof. Brew ‘N Chew opens up the opportunity to not only do that, but also sink your teeth into some delicious food simultaneously. In addition to the aforementioned Beer Float Bar, a special Bacon and Beer Bar will be set up so you can enjoy two of earth’s greatest creations at once, as well as a Nitro and Craft Coffee Bar with desserts. Brew ‘N Chew will also feature an outdoor Biergarten with a wide variety of European beers AND German smoke-infused beers at your disposal.
Do you have questions only a professional brewer can answer? Then Brew ‘N Chew’s exclusive Brewers Roundtable is a portion of this event you don’t want to miss. The Roundtable serves as the perfect opportunity for you to pick the brains of local craft beer personalities and get to know more about what’s inside your pint glass.
And, of course, no beer festival would be complete without the VIP experience! Your VIP ticket includes a Brew ‘N Chew VIP swag bag, designated parking area next to the Convention Center entrance, a one-hour early entrance to the show, Flair Bartending presentation, beer cocktails served with flair, a private chef cooking up beer bites, and more.
Without question, Brew ‘N Chew gives you incredible bang for your buck. Here’s what some folks from the first two events had to say:
Brew ‘N Chew wouldn’t be possible if not for the great sponsors involved. Pittsburgh East Nissan is a major part of the festivities and will be hosting a tailgate party at both sessions featuring beers from Spoonwood Brewing Company and food from Pittsburgh Smokehouse.
Brew ‘N Chew is Pittsburgh’s annual beerfest with bite! There’s so much happening in each session, you may want to consider purchasing tickets for both!
