The crew behind Pittsburgh Libations Week has announced the latest event in their series of great happenings leading up to the inaugural week of festivities this coming Fall: Bloodys & Brunch – A Bloody Mary Festival featuring a Brunch Buffet and a competition pitting destinations throughout Pittsburgh against one another in an effort to discover the Best Bloody in the Burgh! In partnership with James Street Promotions, this event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 20th from 11:00am to 3:00pm at The Stage at Karma on East Carson Street in the South Side.
This event promises to be an incredibly strong showcase of one of the world’s most popular cocktails. Throughout the Pittsburgh region, bars and restaurants have put their own unique spins on their Bloody Mary mix and have won over their patrons with their innovative, one-of-a-kind offerings. Bloody Marys often accompany Breakfast and Brunch menus and serve as the quintessential “hair of the dog” for those who may have…overdone things the night before.
That’s OK. As legendary crooner Dean Martin once said, “I feel sorry for people who don’t drink. When they wake up in the morning, that’s as good as they’re going to feel all day.”
As an attendee, you will get to sample unlimited Bloody Marys from all of the participants and vote for your favorite alongside a panel of judges tasked with finding the very best of the best. There will also be a garnish bar that will feature different ingredients such as spices, hot sauces, and skewers of pickles, olives, and cheeses you can add to your beverage. Please, do not expect any of the crazy, elaborate contraptions you see on TV. There will be no burgers, no soft shell crab, no grilled cheese sandwiches cascading from your glass. This competition is all about the flavor and the design of the Bloody Mary mix itself.
The event will also feature a Mimosa bar for those who want to shake up their beverage consumption. In addition, a cash bar will be available if you’d like to order a beer or other cocktail.
Bloodys & Brunch’s VIP ticket includes all the aforementioned details PLUS a Brunch Buffet. PRO TIP: Get the VIP Ticket.
